How nice Just shows how some guys do care.
I actually play with my boyfriend. We have our computers sitting next to each other. Sometimes I can end up yelling at him about a stupid decision that gets us killed but it is still a lot of fun to share this with him.
(He really really really hates MMORPG's and other game RPG's but ended up loving this one and is now ADDICTED)

I just had to comment on this... I am not a social person. I have grouped with actual people for a mission only once and found it so annoying that I couldn't wait to finish. I'd rather go with henchies. I don't like to chat in game unless it's with someone that I already knew pre-GW. But to be fair I'm this way in real life too. Anyhoo... I've been playing games since my uncle introduced me to Pong. I couldn't afford my own Atari but I loaded up on electronic handhelds like the classic football game (whatever it was called), Simon, Frogger... and this red thing that had lots of games on it. I played that thing to death and I can't remember the name of it. Oh well. I then graduated to Nintendo when it came out. I never owned a console game of my own though until I was 28! I bought my husband a Nintendo64 and we played that a bit. We now have a PS2 but it sits and collects dust. I much more prefer computer games. I have played WOW, Oni, City of Heroes, Neverwinter Nights, SWG, Age of Empires & Myth... many many more. I've also played, and still play, the Sims games, although my daughters play that more than anyone else does. At the moment I'm pretty much hooked on GW. My husband teases me about it... he says, "You and your games!" I can't help it! I LOVE THEM!
P.S. I just ordered a new Alienware laptop to the joy, excessive sighing, and rolling of the eyes of my hubby. Heheh...
(Edit) As a side note I'm 35 and a wife and mother of 4 girls, ranging in age from 3-16. The 16 year old hates gaming. 15 and 13 year olds like Sims and Guild Wars. The 3 year old insists on sitting in my lap to watch mommy kill the bad guys. Mwahaha!

Speak for yourself, my wife found me plenty of great runes and rare materials that I needed to craft my armor. You have to do it yourself or look for some other person to help you (and most likely that would be another guy, and ya know what they say about guy on guy guildwars... )

It is so nice to actually share it with someone that you love and can play together with it. My whole family is actually now playing it as well. My bro, my sis, my mom, and of course my dad.
We all help each other out. It is even better when you can alread have that trust built up if you play with people you know and you actually help them out. If you find something their char can use you give it to them and they do the same for you.
It's especially funny if my b/f finds something awesome and starts shaking my shoulder and getting all excited. I am sure the neighbors can hear him yelling.

Beats the hell out of voice over IP. No team speak needed, just yell as loud as you can.

Two PC's??? Phhtt...
We have 5 between the two of us. My IT pro husband makes a point of having as many around as he can get away with. We used to have six or seven; I can't keep up.
Luckily, one of them is all mine. And we do play side by side. I'm not big on consoles and I used to watch him play his PS2 all the time. Now, we have something to do together.

Violessence,
That is great that you play computer games. I do not know any women in my age group that would even consider playing computer games. Their loss. You really should try to build a small but reliable Friend's List in the game to do missions/quests with. It is allot more fun with people. I understand the hassle it is to find a decent group. However over time out of the "bad Groups" you find decent players like yourself that just want to have fun and do the job right. My friend's list is pretty short.
I have mainly two groups on there. One is noobs that need help and the other is my core group (very small) that we know that we can depend on each other.
EDIT: Stoopid Typ0s

Reread your second paragraph... prolly why he hates mmorpgs heh.
Caco-Cola, I feel ya man. The female friend I mentioned thats a kick ass Counterstrike player is also drop dead gorgeous. She confessed that she is into me one day. Like a dream come true. I'm just afraid i'll find love, then i'll lose it, and lose a friend.

Well two that are claimed and working on regular basis. I don't count the rest because they are in some state of repair, disrepair, upgrade or whatever it is I happen to be doing to them. Hubby regularly complains about the pieces parts I have laying around and when am I going to finish my latest 'puter project....

Yeah, we've got two of thosein the closet... I think. We did a clean out a while back. We have the two for ourselves, a server, an internet machine (P 75 mini comp) downstairs and the laptop that is never used. There's also the LAN station setup in the corner for when our friend brings his box. That one only has the peripherals hooked up.
I don't mind it all because it is his profession and he actually has a use for most of this stuff. The only thing that worries me is when he talks about his 'dream system/network'. Trust me, it is scary, but impressive.

It's not like I yell at him LOUD...just like a Goddammit...why did you do that? we end up laughing in the end. He just does not like mmorpgs. He only likes first person shooters like TFC, Half-life and so on. I don't want to give you the impression that I yell at him all the time. Usually we are laughing or yelling at the henchmen.
I believe my apt is a bit small to have 7 comps laying around the place. We have too many other gadgets that need to take up that space.
I am 19, used to play hockey, and am going to school to become a nurse. So, money tends to be tight sometimes. It is actually kinda scaring me because I am afraid it will take away from GW time The program almost makes it impossible to even work at all.

I'm a girl, and I've played a ton of games-- some console gaming, but in the last six years, almost entirely MMOs. And like others on this thread, I have at some points played with my mother and/or my sister. I've noticed the guildwars population seems to actually be significantly less (real life) female than a lot of others I've played. A lot of men playing women, though. More than I've seen before.
I'm hesitant to believe that 47% statistic. Someone mentioned it before, but 90% of that has to be women playing the Sims. I know I got some very odd looks from female friends and acquantances when I would try to explain that I had spent the night before leveling. In fact, outside my family, I don't know any girls in real life who game, and the Sims doesn't count. And neither do those token girls who play casually to impress a guy. For some reason, the majority of girls still don't, or refuse, to understand the attraction of gaming. Oh well, their loss.
